Just Getting Warmed Up

This week was surprisingly good. I managed to maintain consistency with my running despite a lot of life curve balls.

For those that don’t know, I’m a father of four, a business owner and currently in the process of launching a second.

Over the years, most of my runs are prior to sunrise. I find it easier to get it out the way before the day starts and it gives the day a meditative and refreshing start.

Some long nights have made mornings hard to face, which caused me to buy new batteries for my headlamp and head out for night runs.

I’ve never been a fan of evening runs for a few reasons:

  1. They force you to eat right ALL DAY

  2. They are too easy to procrastinate and/or miss

I’ve managed to finish everyday thus far with the allotted miles complete.

Pain Evaluation:

  • Achilles pain is tied to the tight calves

  • Slight IT pain in the right knee

So far, so good! The above evaluation shows what (in my opinion) is “normal” for me in a training cycle. The goal at this point is to find the root of the issue, correct/strengthen where necessary and get enough sleep to recover fully before the next trek out the door.

Get ready week 3! I’m coming for you.
